Jérémy Recchione — A Free and Sincere Expression of Burgundy
Jérémy Recchione belongs to a new generation of Burgundian winemakers whose work is defined by freedom, precision and a deep respect for the living world. He discovered Burgundy in 2010, when he began working alongside Pierre Naigeon, an experience that introduced him to the region’s vineyards and gradually shaped his understanding of wine. In 2013, he started purchasing grapes from winemaking friends and producing his own cuvées, learning vintage after vintage through observation, experimentation and persistence. His domaine was officially established in 2019, following the acquisition of a parcel of Aligoté in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. From the outset, Jérémy’s philosophy has been rooted in the quality and integrity of the fruit. In the vineyard, the grapes are carefully sorted and harvested in small five-kilogram crates in order to protect them as much as possible before they reach the cellar. His approach is guided by a desire to work as naturally and respectfully as possible, allowing the vineyard and the vintage to remain at the centre of every decision. In the cellar, intervention is kept to an absolute minimum. Fermentations are carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts, no unnecessary additions are made, and sulphur is either avoided entirely or used in extremely small quantities. Rather than correcting or reshaping the wines, Jérémy seeks to accompany them gently throughout fermentation and ageing, preserving their energy, purity and individual character. His ambition is not to create technically perfect wines, but to produce wines capable of giving pleasure and conveying emotion. This sensitivity is reflected in cuvées that are often vibrant, direct and deeply expressive, with a style that favours freshness, transparency and a strong connection to place. As the domaine has developed, Jérémy Recchione has gained access to an increasingly exciting range of Burgundian terroirs, including Premier Cru Reyssié in Pouilly-Fuissé, Les Lavières in Savigny-lès-Beaune and En Caradeux in Pernand-Vergelesses. These new parcels allow him to explore different expressions of Burgundy while maintaining the same low-intervention philosophy. Through natural vinification, careful vineyard work and a highly intuitive approach, Jérémy Recchione is steadily building one of the most distinctive signatures of contemporary Burgundy. His wines are sincere, energetic and unadorned, offering a personal and emotionally driven interpretation of some of the region’s most compelling terroirs.
