Marthe Henry — A New Voice of Elegance in Meursault

Rooted in a family with deep ties to Meursault, Marthe Henry represents a new generation of Burgundian winemakers combining heritage, independence and a highly personal vision of wine. Before returning to Burgundy, she began her professional life in Paris as a journalist, a path that may seem far removed from viticulture but ultimately sharpened the curiosity, sensitivity and precision that now define her work. In 2017, she chose to return to her family roots and train formally in viticulture at the Lycée Viticole de Beaune, while gaining practical experience at Domaine Rougeot in Meursault. That same year, Marthe launched a small-scale négociant activity, beginning with a few barrels of Bourgogne Blanc and Meursault sourced from carefully selected grapes. This first step allowed her to develop her own style and philosophy before taking over part of the family vineyards in 2023. The estate’s history is closely linked to her grandfather, Pierre Boillot, and this generational continuity gives her project a strong sense of place while leaving room for a distinctly contemporary approach. In the vineyard and cellar, Marthe Henry favours natural, precise and minimally interventionist methods. Fermentations are spontaneous, driven by indigenous yeasts, and vinification is carried out without added sulphur whenever possible. The wines are only lightly filtered before bottling, allowing them to retain texture, energy and aromatic purity. Ageing is deliberately long, with a minimum of 18 months, mainly in oak barrels, giving the wines time to settle naturally and develop complexity without losing freshness. Her work is guided by patience rather than extraction or technical correction. The aim is not to impose a signature over the terroir, but to accompany each wine as faithfully as possible from vineyard to bottle. The resulting cuvées are pure, poised and quietly expressive, combining depth with remarkable clarity. Through this thoughtful and uncompromising approach, Marthe Henry is steadily building a distinctive identity in Meursault. Her wines stand out for their sincerity, precision and ability to convey the character of their origin with elegance, making her one of the most compelling emerging voices in contemporary Burgundy.
